1957 Porsche Speedster Replicar (1972 VW Beetle)My husband just doesn't get it! But then again, he claims he never bought his MGA or his Corvettes to attract the opposite sex. They were just cool cars! So He says. This is the coolest of the cool and coveted by the most discernible collector. In the 1970s Automobili Intermeccanica in Santa Ana, California was the largest manufacturer of Speedster Kits. In 1979, sold the Speedster project to Classic Motor Carriages in Miami, Florida. Thus CMC became the largest Speedster replica manufacturer, selling several hundred before coming to a close in 1994. This company used molds for the fiberglass body which is on a 1972 Beetle frame. The 1915cc engine with dual carbs in this Speedster Red with black interior, offers approximately 150hp- faster than the $450,000 original! The reliable and inexpensive VW Drivetrain has a 4-speed transmission with a heavy duty clutch and a larger oil cooler. Approximately 2000 miles are on this engine- not for certain since the odometer is not working. Thats ok .the fun factor still exist owned by the current owner since 1988 and serviced regularly. Service records, side curtains (one is cracked), extra hubcaps and tonneau cover included in the ENJOY THE RIDE price of $29,000. The original is now $300,000 to $500,000.
